Ethyl Acetate 99.5%: Water and Acidity Limits Explained
Water and acidity, not the assay figure, decide whether 99.5% holds up on a coating or ink line. Which tests to run first.

Three questions decide whether 99.5% is enough. Does the process carry a water-sensitive catalyst? Does the substrate show every defect? Does the order need a pharmacopoeial file? Three noes, and the industrial grade covers it.
On a real line, the visible difference between 99.5% and 99.8% is rarely purity. It is residue on evaporation and the dry point of the distillation range, which together explain most cloudiness and slow-dry complaints.
If a change of grade is on the table, run it as a controlled trial: same formula, two solvents, panels pulled and inspected after 24 hours for appearance and adhesion. That comparison settles the argument faster than any data sheet.
Finally, write the grade into the purchasing specification instead of a generic industrial grade. A named grade keeps substitution off the table without written approval.
