Home/Ethyl Acetate 99.9%
99.9% Grade
High-purity ethyl acetate for moisture- and residue-sensitive work, with tighter trace water and ethanol control than the 99.8% grade. Same CAS 141-78-6, same handling rules.
Data
Trace limits for the high-purity grade, as measured on production lots.
| Property | Limit |
|---|---|
| Purity | ≥99.9 wt% (GC) |
| Water | ≤0.02 wt% |
| Ethanol | ≤0.02 wt% |
| Acidity as acetic acid | ≤0.003 wt% |
| Colour | ≤5 Pt-Co |
| Residue on evaporation | ≤1 mg/100 ml |
| Density at 20 °C | 0.898–0.902 g/ml |
Typical values, not for specification. Sasol does not publish a separate specification for this grade; the certificate of the shipped lot governs, and lot re-test data can be supplied with the parcel.
Trace Control
A 0.02% water limit is only worth paying for if it survives the plant. The chain runs from the source of the impurity to the point where a lot is held.
Trace water arrives with the feed, the storage tank and the transfer line, not only with the delivered drum.
Sealed drums, dry gas blanketing and dedicated lines keep the limit meaningful after the drum is opened.
Karl Fischer on arrival with a dry sampling train; an open beaker sample reads high before the lab does anything wrong.
A lot above limit is held, not blended down. Blending destroys the traceability a 99.9% order is bought for.
Handling
The tighter limit is lost faster than it is bought. Four practices keep a 99.9% lot inside its specification.
Applications
Where trace water or residue would show up in the yield, the appearance or the analysis.
Packing
Sealed packing matters more on this grade than on any other in the range.
Small-opening drums with intact seals, for pilot and production volumes.
Dry, dedicated tank with a closed transfer connection.
Lot data for water, ethanol and residue supplied with the parcel on request.
Fill weights are calculated at a density of approx. 0.90 g/ml at 20 °C and confirmed per order. Transport follows UN 1173, Class 3.
