Home/Ethyl Acetate 99.5%
99.5% Grade
Industrial-grade ethyl acetate at a 99.5% assay, for general solvent work where a tighter water and residue limit is not required. Clear, colourless liquid with a characteristic ester odour; CAS 141-78-6.
Data
Typical values for the 99.5% industrial grade, measured on production lots.

| Distillation range | IBP ≥76.0 °C, dry point ≤78.5 °C |
Typical values, not for specification. Sasol publishes a specification for the 99.8% grade (purity min 99.8 wt%, water max 0.03%, ethanol max 0.02%); the values above describe this industrial grade and the certificate of the shipped lot governs.
Fit Check
Five questions decide whether 99.5% is enough for the line, or whether the process already needs 99.8%.
Water at ≤0.10% still consumes isocyanate and metal catalysts. The loss appears as slow cure, not as an off-spec number.
A wider distillation tail lengthens the drying window and can trap solvent in thick films.
Residue at ≤5 mg/100 ml may leave haze or craters on clear coats and print work.
99.5% is a market grade; NF, USP or EP documents come only with the pharmacopoeial grades.
An open drum absorbs moisture; a looser starting limit leaves less room before the limit is reached.
Handling
Ethyl acetate is a flammable liquid with a flash point near −4 °C. These four points cover the usual failure modes on an industrial line.
Applications
General solvent work where cost per kilo leads and the film is not inspected for residue.
Packing
Packing is chosen to match trial, pilot or production volume, with export documents prepared before departure.
Approx. 180 kg net, closed-head steel drum.
Approx. 900 kg net, discharge valve for closed transfer.
Volume confirmed against route, tank availability and vessel schedule.
Fill weights are calculated at a density of approx. 0.90 g/ml at 20 °C and confirmed per order. Transport follows UN 1173, Class 3.

The two grades buyers move to when 99.5% no longer covers the process.

Technical, knowledge and commercial notes on the 99.5% grade.
Technical
Water and acidity, not the assay figure, decide whether 99.5% holds up on a coating or ink line. Which tests to run first.
Knowledge
Three sensitivity questions decide whether the industrial grade covers the process, or whether the trial needs a tighter limit.
Commercial
Feedstock, freight, drum versus ISO tank and batch size move the landed cost more than the grade itself.
