Ethyl Acetate EP vs NF/USP: Grade Comparison

The two pharmacopoeial routes test the same ester with different lists. EP leans on relative density, refractive index and related substances; NF/USP leans on assay and chromatographic purity.

One lot can serve both markets, but only if it is ordered against the stricter specification and both result sets are written onto one certificate. That has to be arranged before the lot is produced.

The destination market, not the supplier, decides which monograph applies.

The destination market picks the route: the Americas work on NF/USP, Europe on EP, and the file that ships with the drum should name the edition it was read against.

The most expensive misunderstanding is treating an industrial certificate as a pharmacopoeial document. It is not, and customs or quality assurance will stop the parcel where the paper does not match the claim.
