Ethyl Acetate EP Grade: Specifications in Detail

Sasol lists Ethyl Acetate EP at 99.80% mass purity, and the rest of the data page comes from the Ph. Eur. monograph rather than a solvent specification.

Two identity checks frame the numbers: relative density 0.898–0.902 at 20 °C and refractive index 1.370–1.373 at the same temperature. Both are stated tests, not inferences.

Refractive index is a stated identity test in the EP monograph.

The impurity limits are water 0.1% max, residue on evaporation 30 ppm max and related substances 0.2% max in total.

Acidity and the sulphuric acid colour test read as pass or fail against the EP method. Where a result sits near a numeric limit, the method named on the certificate is the one that decides.
