Sasol Ethyl Acetate 99.8%: Packing Cost Comparison

Packing is a cost decision before it is a logistics one. A 200 L drum carries about 180 kg, a 1000 L IBC about 900 kg, and an ISO tank scales the same solvent across the largest single handling unit.

Fill weights are calculated at a density of about 0.90 g/ml at 20 °C and confirmed per order, because drum and IBC weights change the customs paperwork as much as the freight plan.

Fill weight, not container volume, is what the customs form records.

Drums leave a heel that has to be cleaned out or disposed of, and that cost lands on the buyer's side. IBCs and tanks cut it sharply, which is why monthly volume decides the packing question more often than unit price does.

As a rule of thumb: drums for trials and short runs, IBCs for steady monthly volume, and ISO tanks where a plant consumes a tank a month or more.
